This role requires a person with considerable experience in the strategic aspects of material management. They must be capable of leading a change programme that streamlines the materials function within the company. The person should be a dynamic and enthusiastic professional with a strong knowledge and understanding of material/supply chain and logistics industry trends and has the ability to apply this knowledge to develop a compelling supply chain solution to meet with customers expectations and requirements. Responsibilities: Procurement of raw material in line with forecast and customer requirements. Manage stores functions including, receiving, kitting, cycle counting and dispatch. Manage and report excess and obsolete inventories. Management and timely disposition of scrap inventories. Management of overall plant inventory to agreed inventory turns. Provide agreed weekly, monthly and quarterly performance metrics. Manage Production & Inventory Control Planning to ensure schedules are met. Champion in Plant Continuous Improvement Projects. Build strategic relationships & manage Suppliers to ensure continuity of material and realise cost savings on an ongoing basis. Trade Shows, Supplier Visits and supplier development. Provide flexible and trained workforce in the materials department. Attend and be a key contributor in monthly menior management meeting. Development of periodic and annual review of resources within the materials department. Manage parts distribution inventory and target to increase sales year on year. Warranty. Manage Sales and Operations Planning process and be responsible for the regular signoff of Forecast/MPS meetings. Manage Cycle Counting to agreed industry standards and drive the preparation and execution of annual Stocktaking. Responsible for all HR issues in relation to all direct employees in the Materials Department. Contribute to the overall strategy for Abbey as a key member of the senior management team. Requirements: The individual should preferably have greater than 5 years experience in a materials/supply chain function. Good communications and interpersonal skills, analytical approach and able to work as part of a team. Relevant third-level qualification or IPICS/IIPMM certification. Experience of managing a supply chain or materials function through change and optimisation. People management experience. Ability to maintain and develop relationships across all Departments. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills. Customer focused. Works with a sense of urgency and attention to detail at all times. Demonstrate initiative. Initiates, sponsors and implements change. Solves problems by gathering data and using logic to arrive at decisions or solutions that achieve the desired outcome. Flexible to work needs. Must be creative, able to multi-task and have a hands-on approach. Ability to project manage, work under pressure and meet agreed and often tight deadlines.
