Our Multinational Client in the Midwest has a requirement for a Product Development Specialist to join a new R&D venture in the Midwest. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a newly established R&D facility working on innovative projects . About the role. Reporting to a Product Development Manager, and based in the product development team, the position-holder will drive the development, innovation and renovation of products from concept development through all stages of development in full alignment with the objectives and priorities. Responsibilities. Recommend, plan and deliver technical and scientific support for assigned R&D projects and participate in multidisciplinary teams to ensure project deliverables are met, from concept through to commercialization according to agreed timelines and project costs. Support the I/R pipeline: build knowledge on product formats, raw materials, manufacturing processes, packaging, test methods and applicable regulations. Proactively propose new ideas/projects/methods. Explore patentable opportunities. Assess the feasibility of new projects and prepare development plans: including draft recipe design, manufacturing feasibility, development timelines and the estimation of cost of goods, sensory profile and physical properties of the proposed product. Development of new products through from bench-top, pilot-plant and scale-up trials according to agreed timelines and quality standards. Preparation of general recipes and supporting technical documentation. Recording of observations and experimental data in a systematic and professional manner. Critical review of analytical data. Preparation of development reports. Ensure that the new products meet the agreed standards for sensory properties and physical attributes. Conduct relevant consumer acceptance studies to support new product launches. Ensure freedom to operate. Provide accurate and on-time technical assistance support to operations with effective (quality, cost and on-time) and sustainable solutions. Give operational support to customers, assistance in industrialization start-ups, follow-up product launches, including technical and product improvements. Qualifications. 3rd level qualification in Food Science/Food Technology or related discipline. 3 to 5 years’ experience of working in an R&D or technical environment.
