Our client, a leading regulated manufacturing company are looking for a Product Development Technologist to join their team. This is an opportunity to join a market leading company in a rewarding role with excellent opportunities for development. The Role: Develop products through the development process from initiation to launch including bench work, taste panelling, customer presentation, carrying out trials, finished product specifications and first production. Recipe development. Nutritional analysis. Complete customer/finished product specifications to a high standard with a right first time policy. Sign off artwork for packaging of new lines ensuring adherence to all relevant labelling legislation. Maintain documents related to the new product development process. Organising benchmark panels. Make samples for internal and external presentations, nutritional analysis and reference samples for trial/launch. Customer presentations. Arrange trial/pre-production on new products. Recipe costings. Nutritional analysis. Make sure the ingredients stocks are kept high, collect raw materials from the plant on a weekly basis. Kitchen Facilities – Manage the maintenance of the kitchen facility. Working with and engaging others to strive towards best practice, via support, challenge and development, to positively affect the overall performance of the function. To keep up to date with culinary, dietary and new processing trends. Idea generation. Liaise with sales managers regarding project updates. Collate information, for example own label competitor information and make sure it is all up to date. Flexibility/wiliness to travel. Need to be able to go to the UK at short notice for own label presentations. The Person: Third level Honours degree in Home Economics/Food Science or related subject. Commercial awareness and understanding of product costings. Process awareness. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Culinary knowledge and a passion for food. Use own initiative/quick learner. Presentation skills. Experience in presenting to the customer will help. Ability to multi-task. Must be able to work on several projects at one time. Should be able to prioritise work with the help of the NPD manager and team.
